Ingredients

  1. 1 cupurad dal
  2. 1/4 cupBengal gram
  3. 20dry red chillies
  4. 1/4 cupsesame seeds (white)
  5. 1/2 teaspoonasafoetida powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoonor to taste salt

  1. 1

    Dry roast all the above ingredients until it turns light brown on a medium heat (it takes about 8 to 10 minutes). Keep it aside and let it completely cool.

    Grind in an electric mixer to a coarse powder and add salt to taste. Idli Powder (gun powder) is ready to use. Store it in an airtight container. Mix with gingelly oil and can have with idli, dosa,rava dosa,Adai or can have with hot steamed rice.
