Ingredients

30min
4 servings
  1. 400 gmchicken (medium cut)
  2. 4potatoes (half)
  3. 2 tspturmeric powder
  4. 4 tspblack pepper powder
  5. as neededsalt
  6. 2 tsplemon juice
  7. 50 mlwhite oil
  8. 20 whole black pepper seeds
  9. 15 curry leaves
  10. 2 green chilli (optional)
  11. To make a paste
  12. 1 onion (medium size)
  13. 1 tomato (medium size)
  14. 5 gmgarlic cloves
  15. 5 gmginger
  16. 2 dry chilli

Cooking Instructions

30min
  1. 1

At first, grind black pepper seeds on a stone grinder and make a powder. Homemade grinned powder gives nice aroma and taste. Alternately, you can use packaged readymade black pepper powder.

  2. 2

Next, marinate the chicken pieces with lemon juice, turmeric powder, salt and black pepper powder. Mix the ingredients and leave it for 30min.

  3. 3

Peel off the skin of potatoes and cut into half. Marinate the potatoes with turmeric powder and salt. Apply a thin coat of the ingredients using hand.

  4. 4

Take a pot, heat oil and fry the potatoes until golden brown, keep it aside. Medium gas stove flame is recommended.

  5. 5

In the same oil, sauté the whole black pepper seeds and curry leaves until nice aroma comes out. Fry tomato, onion, ginger, garlic and red chilli paste together until the oil is surfaced.

  6. 6

Then add the marinated chicken, sprinkle salt to taste and turmeric powder and cook until half cooked. You can cover with a lid for fast cooking and to save cooking gas. If you are covering with a lid, once you take off the lid, slightly water will discharge from the chicken, then continue to cook until the water is vaporised.

  7. 7

Add the marinated potatoes, cook for a while and then add water according to your preferred quantity of gravy. Cover with a lid and leave it until the chicken and potatoes are fully cooked or soften. Please don’t forget to monitor and check it periodically.

  8. 8

Mix black pepper chicken powder with small amount of water and add to the gravy and stir. Further, add fresh few curry leaves and green chilli; cover with a lid, leave it for 5-10min and switch off the gas.

  9. 9

The Golmorich Chicken is ready to serve and it can be served with steam rice, chapati or paratha.
