Ingredients

  • 250 gmsBhindi or Okra
  • 3 tspOil
  • 1/2 tspAjwain Seeds
  • 1Tej Patta
  • 1 inchCinnamon Piece
  • 1medium sized Onion (chopped)
  • 1 tspGinger Garlic Paste
  • 1medium sized Tomato (chopped)
  • 1/4 tspTurmeric Powder
  • 1 tspRed Chilli Powder
  • 1 tspDhaniya Jeera Powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/4 tspGaram Masala
  • 1 tspKasuri Meethi (crushed)
  • as requiredGreen Coriander Leaves for garnishing

Steps

  1. 1

    Firstly wash, clean and dry all bhindis. Then cut in small round slices.

    Now heat up the 1 tsp of oil in kadhai on low flame. Add bhindi and cook till it changes colour. Remove from kadhai and keep aside.

  3. 3

    In the same kadhai, add remaining 2 tsp of oil and heat it on low flame. Once heated properly add ajwain, tej patta and cinnamon piece. Saute for 1 second and then add onions. Saute onions till it turns translucent.

  4. 4

    Now add ginger garlic paste, mix and cook for a minute. Then tomatoes and cook for a minute. Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, dhania jeera powder and salt. Mix all well and cook till tomatoes gets cooked completely and becomes soft.

  5. 5

    Now add prepared bhindi and mix all well and cook for 2 mins. Then add garam masala and kasuri meethi and further cook for a minute.

  6. 6

    Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with roti.
