Steps
- 1
Combine all the ingredients and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 1 hour.
- 2
After 1 hour, grease your hands and knead the dough again. Divide into small balls and roll each one out as thin as possible, like a tortilla.
- 3
Heat a skillet (tava) on the stove for 5 minutes. Then turn the skillet upside down over the flame. Mix a little salt and water in a bowl. Sprinkle some of this salt water on the back of the skillet, then carefully place the rolled-out dough onto the hot surface, using a rolling pin to help if needed.
- 4
Press the roti gently with a cotton cloth and cook on both sides until done. Your Rumali Roti made with whole wheat flour is ready. Serve hot with your favorite curry or vegetable dish.
