Ingredients

2-3 servings
  • 1 1/4 cupbasmati or long grain rice
  • 1-2small sized carrot chopped
  • 1/4 cuppeas
  • 1/4 cupchopped potato
  • 1red chilli
  • 1/2 tspjeera / cumin
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1-2green cardamom
  • 1small cinnamon stick
  • 1 tspcoriander powder
  • 1/2 tspjeera /cumin powder
  • 1/4 tspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspsugar
  • 1 tspghee
  • to tasteSalt
  • 3 3/4 cupwater
  • 1-2 tspFresh coriander (chopped for garnishing)

Steps

  1. 1

    Clean the rice. In a rice cooker add the rice and water (water measurement is taken as water:rice is 3:1 ratio). Add all the chopped vegetables, masalas (whole, dry & powder), salt, sugar, ghee.

  2. 2

    Cover the rice cooker and switch on. Keep in cooking mode for 20-25 minutes.

  3. 3

    Once done, carefully check using spatula and ensure rice grains are not broken.

  4. 4

    Transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh coriander (chopped).
