Zaatar and cheese scones

Scones can taste Lebanese sometimes 😍🇱🇧
For this recipe I used green Za’atar (wild green thyme which I brought with me all the way from Lebanon to the UK), but you can definitely make it with Zaatar spices instead.
The recipe is inspired by a Lebanese author on Cookpad Arabic and I wanted to share it with you here 🌍

Steps
- 1
Start with mixing the dry ingredients very well: flour, salt, black pepper, baking powder, garlic powder,
- 2
Add the butter and olive and mix with flour then rub it together with your fingertips to make a light breadcrumb texture
- 3
Add the milk, creamy cheese, wild thyme and sesame seeds (or zaatar instead of sesame seeds because it already has sesame in it) and mix until you get a nice dough
- 4
Spear the in a circular shape on a baking tray, brush some milk over the top, sprinkle the sesame seeds and add some grated cheddar cheese if you like
- 5
Put in a preheated oven at 200c for 10min until you get a golden brown top
- 6
The first time I made it, the taste of zaatar was too strong because I added the thyme leaves as they were, but this time I used just a handful of the leaves and crushed them before adding them to the dough and the taste was just perfect 👌🏻
- 7
Enjoy it for breakfast with a cup of tea or have it as an appetizer with you dinner 😊
