Ingredients

  • 500 gdessicated coconut
  • 1 cupicing sugar (250ml)
  • 1 tablespoonghee or butter
  • 1 cancondensed milk (397g or normal size as per your country)
  • 3 tablespoonsfresh cream (double or single)
  • 3-4 tablespoonsmilk powder
  • 1 teaspoonvanilla or rose essence or flavour of choice Colour of your choice
  • Cardamom powder (optional)

Steps

    1. In a pan, dry roast the coconut for a few minutes until it has a nice aroma but do not brown it or burn it. Remove from the stove.
    2. Mix in all the other ingredients and form a dough like mixture.
    3. Shape it and decorate as liked (make balls and use Malaysian cutters)

    If mixture is too wet, add in a little more desiccated coconut, as not all coconut is of the same texture. If too dry, then add in a lttle more condensed milk or fresh cream, (cream is preferable, depending on your sweetness level).

Hi all, my name is Rekha. I am Indian by birth, born in Uganda, East Africa, I now live in Wilby, Northamptonshire/England.I retired at the age of 60 due to severe arthritis. I am married, a mother and grandmother.I learnt to cook from my parents at a very young age of seven. I started to cook simple dishes for the family and gradually learnt how to cook. My mum use to cook at our shop where we sold Indian sweets and savouries. I have learnt a lot from my mum. I started cooking fusion dishes and learning from others. My strong point is making sweet dishes and innovating new dishes. I can improvise and be creative in leftover dishes.I love being on Cookpad because I can share and learn new recipes. I have also made a lot of friends.
