Ingredients

  1. 500 gdried fava beans
  2. 350 gdried chickpeas
  3. 1 tspsalt
  4. 1/3 cuplemon juice
  5. 4 clovesgarlic
  6. 1 tspsalt
  7. 1 tbspchopped parsley (to decorate)
  8. 1 tspbicarbonate soda (for boiling)
  9. olive oil (for serving)

Cooking Instructions

    Method of boiling:
    Soak the fava beans in a deep bowl with the tsp of bicarbonate soda for 24 hrs.

    As for the chickpeas soak using the same process

    After 24 hours wash the fava beans and the chickpeas well before boiling.

    Boil the fava beans and the chickpeas separately in a deep pot with a sufficient amount of water on high heat

    Once boiling has started remove the foam that appears on top of the pot

  6. 6

    Lower the heat then cover the pot so that the water doesn't pour over

  7. 7

    When the fava beans and the chickpeas have cooked, leave aside to cool down

  8. 8

    Preparation:

    2 cups of boiled fava beans

  9. 9

    1 cup of boiled chickpeas
    And crushed garlic

  10. 10

    In a deep bowl add the fava beans the chickpeas, crushed garlic, lemon juice
    and salt

  11. 11

    Mash all ingredients using the hand grinder until all has mixed in together

  12. 12

    Serve on a plate with a drizzle of oil oil

  13. 13

    Decorate with chopped parsley

  14. 14

    Serve with tomato, onions and pickles
