Krecek is a crispy cattle skin that is usually eaten as snack but also can be made into a dish like this. Do some google if you are curious, I believe some countries in South East Asia also has the same thing but they make it with pork skin instead.

Good to enjoy with some hot white rice. Hope you like it!

Ingredients

2 servings
  • 1 cupfried cattle skin chips
  • 4yellow tofus, slice, then deep fried until crispy
  • 1potato, peeled and cut into cubes, then fry
  • 1handfull of beef cubes
  • Chilli Paste:
  • 5red chillies
  • 3red curly chillies
  • 5shallots
  • 3garlics
  • Others:
  • 1lemongrass, smashed
  • 2Asian bay leaves
  • 500 mlThin coconut milk, about
  • Some salt
  • Pepper
  • Sugar
  • Chicken powder

Steps

  1. 1

    Make the chilli paste by using a blender or traditional mortar and pestle until soft. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Add the oil in a pan. Then add in the chilli paste. Stir until fragrant and cooked.

  3. 3

    Then add in the lemongrass and bay leaves. Stir until fragrant.

  4. 4

    Then add in the beef. Stir until the beef is cooked.

  5. 5

    Then add the coconut milk. Let it simmer.

  6. 6

    Add the seasonings. Taste test.

  7. 7

    Then add in the cattle skin, potato and tofu. Mix again.

  8. 8

    Let it simmer and let everything absorb the seasoning.

  9. 9

    Turn off the heat and serve.
