Cooking Instructions

Prepare the potatoes, slice them into dices, and then steam or boil them until thoroughly cooked and soft.

When boiling the potatoes, add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of salt, place the burner on high until the water boils. And then reduce the heat to medium or low, and cook the potatoes in gently boiling water until tender for 15 minutes. You can use a fork to test to see if they’re tender enough.

Place the potatoes into a bowl, and start mashing them. While its warm, add butter and continue mashing it until the butter melts into the potatoes. Then, add milk, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.

If you wish for a smooth texture, put the mashed potatoes into a strainer with a pan under it. Push the potatoes with a spoon towards the strainer.

Put grated cheese onto the pan. Turn the heat on low until the cheese melts and stir fast, then serve. // An alternative is just to put the mashed potatoes on a plate, grate cheese over it, and then put it in the microwave for a few seconds / minutes.
