Ingredients

  1. 1 cupfresh curd (yogurt)
  2. 2 to 2.5 cups water
  3. 4 tablespoonsgram flour (besan)
  4. 1/2 tablespoonginger-green chilli paste
  5. 1 tablespoonsugar or jaggery, add more for more sweetness
  6. as per tastesalt
  7. as requiredcoriander leaves for garnishing
  8. Forfor tempering
  9. 1 inch cinnamon stick
  10. 2 cloves
  11. 1 sprigcurry leaves
  12. pinchhing
  13. 2broken red chilies, deseeded
  14. 1/2 teaspooncumin seeds
  15. 1/2 teaspoonmustard seeds
  16. 1/4 teaspoonfenugreek seeds (methi ke dane)
  17. 1 tablespoonoil or ghee

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix the chickpea flour/besan, green chilli-ginger paste, yogurt, sugar and salt with water.
    beat to a smooth mixture.
    Fry all the ingredients meant for tempering.
    Add the yogurt-water mixture.

  2. 2

    Give a boil first and then simmer for 5 minutes more or as required.
    continue to stir in between to avoid lumps from getting formed.
    garnish kadhi with chopped coriander and serve hot Gujarati kadhi with rice or phulka.
