Developed this recipe for the family, slightly sweet, mild spice, can easily be made hotter by adding in some diced chilies or a diced jalapeño. Just throw it in the pot and forget about it! Good great with the cornbread recipe

Ingredients

  1. 2 lbground beef, browned
  2. 1 lbmild or spicy sausage, browned
  3. 1onion, chopped
  4. 4 (15 oz)cans of beans, drained and rinsed (any variety, I use red and black beans)
  5. 4garlic cloves, minced
  6. 1 (15 oz)can petite diced tomatoes
  7. 1 (15 oz)can while kernel corn, drained (optional)
  8. 1 cansliced olives (optional)
  9. 6 tbsptaco seasoning
  10. 1a couple squirts lime juice
  11. 4 tbspbrown sugar (reduce to 2 if using corn)
  12. 1 tbspworcestershire sauce
  13. Ketchup - a generous drizzle
  14. 1 1/2 tspkitchen bouquet browning sauce
  15. 1 ozsquare of unsweetened baking chocolate
  16. 2 ozsemi sweet chocolate
  17. 2 tbspunsweetened cocoa powder
  18. 2capfulls cooking Sherry
  19. 2 tspbeef bouillon
  20. 1 tspchili powder
  21. 16 ozV8 juice (or enough to just under-cover contents of crock pot)
  22. to tasteSalt and pepper

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Combine everything in crock pot, cook on high for 4-6 hours (until onions are cooked through and flavors well blended)
