Ingredients

  • 150 gmsraw rice
  • 50 gmsgreen gram Dhall
  • 100 gmsGhee
  • 25 mlcooking oil
  • 1/2 tablespoonpepper corns
  • 1 tablespooncumin seeds
  • 1/2 inchesginger (finely chopped)
  • lillteAsafoetida to sprinkle while seasoning
  • 10 cashews for seasoning
  • as requiredCurry and coriander leaves
  • 3 glasseswater( 150 +50=200ml which measures one big glass)
  • to tasteSalt

Steps

  1. 1

    Take a pressure cooker add washed rice and green gram dhall together with 3 glasses of water and required salt

  2. 2

    Close the lid and put whistle on it, then keep it in a small burner

  3. 3

    Once the first whistle sounds keep the flame to sim for 7 minutes and switch off the stove

  4. 4

    After the pressure released stir it well.

  5. 5

    Put a pan,add oil, once it boils add peppercorn, cumin seeds, cashews, ginger, sprinkle asafoetida for seasoning, then put it into a cooker.

  6. 6

    Stir well, finally add 100 gms ghee, garnish it with curry and coriander leaves, we will get a nice and tasty Pongal for breakfast
