Centella asiatica commonly known as centella /gotu kola or Asiatic pennywort locally known as Thimare /Brahmi or Ondelaga in our region. Popularly known as memory enhancer and from ages, it has been used as a brain tonic. In our coastal Brahmi is considered as a body coolant and used as a culinary herb during summer either by making chutney or Tambli.
Brahmi is a small runner/succulent herb and contains numerous fibrous roots at it's each node. In our coastal belt, it grows widely in our paddy fields or Areca nut garden. It has small tiny seed like flowers with neutral colour. The whole plant including it's roots can be used in cooking as well as medicinal purpose. It has little bitter sweetish taste when it is consumed in a raw form without any added taste enhancer. 2 teaspoons of Raw extract can be used for 3 to 7 days to enhance the overall health /to boost immune system/to reduce any inflammation of the body. Apart from this, it is very good for hair as well.In our region, usually we make Tambli or chutney and consumed as a raw form (not boiled) to get all the benefits of the greens.

Taisen's husband's fried kielbasa and potatoes Taisen's husband's fried kielbasa and potatoes
I was trying to think of something quick to make that my husband would be ok with eating and that wouldn't be to bad with his diet. This isn't exactly a great diet food but it filled him up with a smaller portion and it went well with the butter and herb rice. He is picky so I am lucky he even added onion in ! I came up with this , got the stuff to make it and he ended up cooking it. Now he loves it and so do the kids. Quick , easy dinner. Used light kielbasa and olive oil to help lighten it some. Hope you enjoy it if you try it ! taisen76 -

In our house, we'll eat all kinds of poke, but salmon is probably our favorite fish for the application.I love this combination of rich, raw salmon with the savory crunch of the onion, the refreshing crunch of the cucumber, and the yummydelicious spicy seasoning in which it's tossed.Info about buying sushi/sashimi fish on my blog:http://chezshinae.blogspot.com/2014/04/spicy-salmon-poke-with-crunchy-cucumber.html x -
Grilled Minced Meat Wrapped in Wild Betel Leaves (Bò Lá Lôt) Grilled Minced Meat Wrapped in Wild Betel Leaves (Bò Lá Lôt)
Bò Lá Lôt is a Vietnamese minced meat wrapped in wild betel leaves and then grill to perfection. It's one of Vietnamese popular Street food. Fresh or frozen leaves can be found in some Asian supermarkets. The leaves are native to many asian countries and used both raw & cooked in various dishes. Here, we noticed that it is known as Heart leaf. Others identify this as La Lot leaf, daun kaduk, lun kaduk, bai cha plu or bai som phu. Do check the label when buying as these have similar look to a rather thick, sturdy dark green Betel leaves (pan leaves) that is used as stimulant and chewed with grated betel nuts. This wild betel leaves we use here is botanically known as Piper Sarmentosum AND the leaves chewed with betel nuts is known as Piper Betle (used as stimulant & the combination of Piper Betle and betel nut produce red liquid). So be careful when choosing the leaves 🍃 🌿#CA2025#CookpadApron2025#nuoccham#lunch#dinner#snack#appetizer#fishsauce#dippingsauce#lalot#asian#texas#HEB#vietnam#vietnamese#fingerfood#baichaplu#vietnamesefood#sauce#dip#wildbetelleaves#betelleaves#daunkaduk#bòlálôt#mince#mincedmeat#grilled#BBQ Pinkblanket's Kitchen -
