Steps
- 1
Heat the oven to 220°C/ 200°C Fan/Gas 7
- 2
Sieve the flour and baking powder then rub in the cold butter until breadcrumb consistency
- 3
Drizzle in honey and then mix well with a fork until evenly distributed. Dip the spoon in hot water to help the honey come off the spoon
- 4
Add the milk gradually until the dough forms. It should be soft and slightly sticky to touch
- 5
Rest the dough for around 10 minutes and then roll out to about 2.5 cm. Cut into rounds, carefully re-rolling the dough to get around 6 scones. Put the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- 6
Rest the dough again for around 20 minutes then brush with egg wash and and bake in the oven for 10 minutes
- 7
Check they are fully cooked by tapping the bottom (should sound hollow). Transfer to a cooling rack once you are happy they are cooked.
- 8
Enjoy lovely, light scones 😊
