Ingredients

3 hrs soaking,15 mins grinding, Cook Time  5 mins
10 Dosa
  • Soak and Grind
  • 3/4 cupRaw Rice
  • 3/4 cup Idli Rice
  • 1/2 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal
  • 5 tspUrad Dal
  • 8dry red chilli
  • 2 tspFennel Seeds
  • 2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 inchGinger
  • Chop and Mix
  • 1Big Onion
  • handful Drumstick Leaves/ Murunga
  • 1/4 cupGrated Carrot
  • 4 tspCoriander leaves
  • 3 tspCurry leaves
  • 1 pinchHing/asafoetida
  • 1 pinchTurmeric powder (optional)
  • to tastesalt
  • as neededoil

Steps

3 hrs soaking,15 mins grinding, Cook Time  5 mins
  1. 1

    Wash and Soak the rice and dhals for at least 2-3 hours, Keep aside. Grind it together with red chillies, fennel seeds, cumin seeds & ginger to a coarse paste. Add salt, turmeric powder, hing mix well and set aside

  2. 2

    Rest it overnight or minimum 4 hrs for fermentation

  3. 3

    Add chopped onion, carrot, and Drumstick/coriander/curry leaves and mix well. Add little water to make it to slightly running consistency slightly thicker than the dosa batter.

  4. 4

    Heat the dosa tawa, take one ladle full and spread the batter as we do for dosa. Drizzle little oil and once it is cooked turn to other side and cook till golden brown.

    Serve hot with coconut chutney
