This is a traditional Jamu recipe known for its properties of blood cleansing, removal of body odour, improvement of circulation and reduction of pain during menstruation.
The turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and also contains high levels of anti-oxidants. The tamarind is known to ease stomach discomfort and aid digestion. (From google)

Ingredients

  1. 1 litrewater
  2. 100 grfresh turmeric
  3. 20 grfresh ginger
  4. 1.5 tbsptamarind paste
  5. 50-100 grpalm sugar (gula melaka) to taste
  6. Pinchsalt

Cooking Instructions

    Peel turmeric, ginger. Dice turmeric and ginger and make a paste in your food processor.

    Add 1 litre water to your saucepan, add the turmeric/ginger paste, tamarind paste, palm sugar, pinch of salt and boil for 10-15 minutes.

    Remove this jamu from heat, strain to remove any big chunk.

  4. 4

    Keep this jamu in glass jar or disposable plastic container.

  5. 5

    Ready to serve warm or put some ice cube for refreshing drink. I like to drink it cold.
    Good to be stored in the fridge for up to a week.

I think I used to buy a concentrated one in yellow sachet from Indonesia. Not sure its the same though. But this recipe is so interesting the sweet and sourness of the tamarind is what i need for this summer. Thanks for the really healthy recipes
