Brownies

The most decadent fudge brownie I have had. It’s topped with crushed caramel candy. Super easy to make at home.

Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 180C. Grease your baking tray preferably 8*8 square tray. Have your ingredients ready.
- 2
In a large bowl mix oil and sugar until well blended.
- 3
Add eggs and vanilla and stir well.
- 4
Sieve cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt into the oil/sugar mixture.
- 5
Pour the batter into greased pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the brownie begins to pull away from edges of pan.
- 6
Let cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Few tips that will ensure your brownies are not cakey.
I do not use a mixer because you can overmix your batter and whip too much air into the eggs. This makes your brownies have a cakey texture.
Measure your flour correctly! Adding too much flour to your brownies will take a way from that nice fudge-like texture. - 8
Don’t over bake your brownies. Unlike cake, brownies will not have springy center and a skewer inserted into the center will not come out clean. Your brownies are done when the center is set and you see the top just begin to crack.
- 9
Add toasted nuts, crushed candy cane, chocolate chips, toffee, or even candy like M&Ms to your brownie batter for a bit of crunch and flavor.
