Mosdeng serma is a very popular dish from the state of Tripura. It means tomato chutney. This chutney is spicy and tangy in taste. Traditionally it is served with pork and hot steamed rice as a side dish.

Soak dry red chillies in warm water for 30 minutes. Chop it. Crush red chillies, green chillies and garlic with the help of mortar and pestle.

Heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onion to it and saute it until light pink in colour. Now add chilli and garlic paste to it and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add finely chopped tomatoes to it and mix it well. Add sugar and salt and cook it until tomatoes are soft and mushy. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix. Turn off the heat.

Serve the spicy and tangy tomato chutney as a side dish.
