Make a fine paste by adding cumin seeds, coriander seeds, dried red chillies, tamarind pulp, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds, cloves, cardamom, garlic, ginger, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder to a blender using little quantity of water.

Wash and clean the fish pieces. Marinate them with the prepared masala paste for 10 to 15 minutes and keep the remaining masala paste to prepare the gravy.

Heat oil in a kadai and fry the fish pieces on both sides and keep it aside.

In the same oil add the curry leaves, onions, green chillies, and saute till onions turn translucent. Now add the prepared masala paste and saute for few minutes.

Then add the water depending on desired gravy thickness and cook till oil separates from the gravy. Now add the fried fish pieces into the gravy and cook for few seconds
