It is traditional bengali recipe. It is time consuming to make but very delicious. I think it's a favourite dish of many bengalis..
Steps
- 1
First grease your palms with oil then extract the florets from the banana flower (mocha).
- 2
Remove the black long stem-like structure from each floret. It is a hard part of the flower which is too hard to boil and difficult to digest.
- 3
Then wash and chop the florets and boil with salt and turmeric powder. Boil till they become soft, keep aside after boiling.
- 4
Heat ghee+oil in a kadhai. Temper with whole garam masala, bay leaves and cumin seeds.
- 5
Now add ginger paste and cumin powder. Fry well.
- 6
Now add coconut paste, turmeric powder and salt. Fry for sometime. Add the boiled chopped florets, cook again for sometime. At this point add the fried potatoes and boiled chana.
- 7
Add ghee and 1tsp garam masala before turning off the flame.
- 8
Serve hot with steamed rice.
