Had some shrimp and it’s GAME DAY!!! Seasoned them up with a few things and were grubbing healthy! Sounded good til I realized I was out of cocktail sauce AND ketchup?!?! How does that even happen?? So I did what I do best. IMPROVISE! Had some sweet heat chili sauce and a fresh bottle of raw horseradish. Match made in heaven.

Ingredients

10 minutes
2-4 servings
  1. 2 lbsJumbo shrimp cleaned and deveined with tails left on
  2. 2 tbspbacon fat
  3. Salt and pepper, old bay and garlic powder
  4. Sweet heat cocktail sauce:

Cooking Instructions

10 minutes
  1. 1

Preheat the broiler on low. Add bacon fat to a sheet pan and put it in the oven to preheat. Season your well drained shrimp in the colander with salt pepper old bay and garlic. When you smell the bacon fat pull your pan out. Add your shrimp to the hot pan in a single layer. Turn broiler to high and put your shrimp in. I stand there with it til it’s to my liking, about 6-8 minutes.

  2. 2

Put your shrimp in a bowl or on a plate and drizzle with the drippings from the pan.

  3. 3

Mix your franks sweet heat chili sauce in a bowl and add 2 tbsp horseradish. I like it hot. Add less if you can’t stand the heat lol

I'm an army brat with a Cajun mother and an Irish dad. I'm married to the love of my life, David, and we have 2 daughters and 2 grandchildren. I've been a barber for 40 years. Im an old fashioned, old school cook and my recipes are basic. I change them up all the time.Since finding out I’m diabetic I’ve had to rearrange old habits. Any recipe I have can be made the old fashioned way OR replaced with lower carb options. Just ask and I’ll tell you what has worked for me.I’m the self proclaimed queen of the leftover. I have issues with leftovers looking back at me with the same sappy look they had the day before. Can’t do it. My super power is turning what I find in my fridge into something I want to eat. I work so much better under pressure. I live for shortcuts and not having to run to the grocery every day. Work with what you have. Adapt and overcome. Also, the less dishes, bowls, and pots I hafta use, the better. Hope some of these recipes work out for ya!
