For suhur, choose foods that are slow release carbs and potassium rich to boost energy levels and also help control thirst during fasting hours.
Some foods rich in potassium are :bananas,pistachios, dries peaches,pumpkins,avocados,milk,dates.(Thank you Bibi M,for sending this information to us)
Here is a simple.milkshake recipe .This one is textured,thick &slightly creamy,as used alternate to cream ,(used dairy free option).also used frozen bananas which made it bit more icecream like
Health benefits of this are many as all sugers are natural and all ingredients are wholesome,Alhamdulillah.you can add bit of water to make it thinner or use milk instead of cream.also drizzle some honey for bit extra sweetness.This drink can also be stored in stay in fridge for few days Alhamdulillah!

Ingredients

4 servings
  • 3medium/large Bananas used frozen(can use fresh if prefer)
  • 8medium, no Pitt,soft dates(or can soak briefly if bit tough)
  • Double cream Alternate (1/3rd mug)
  • 2/3rd mug water
  • Halfteaspoon non alcohol Vanila (flavoring option)
  • Drizzle of honey(optional)
  • Mixed Nut for garnish(optional)

Steps

    Here are ingredients;chop dates and briefly soak about,3-5 mins,in slightly hot or warm water.cab remove outer skin after soak or can leave as is.rince then chop frozen bananas easier to do skin on first as it is very cold to remove skin at this point

    Now when skin is loosened slightly peel of using butter knife makes bit easier,remove some dark marks around the banana or stringy partsor any other.then chop up bit for easier blending.blend.leave cream add at end or all together if using a chopper

    Add the cream at end if using hand blender due to ease of splattering.then serve into glass or serving jug.then garnish with nuts and drizzle some honey for bit extra natural sweetness.Bismillah enjoy esp for suhur(prefasting meal) or iftar too.
