Making Lauki kofta- peel the lauki, grate it. Add salt. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.

Squeeze the grated lauki & collect the juice in a bowl. Keep the juice aside for later use.

Mix all the ingredients for making the koftas with the grated lauki except oil.

Make small round shaped balls or Patties.

Heat oil in a frying pan. Shallow fry the lauki kofta in the oil, till they are golden brown on all the sides.

Drain the fried kofta on kitchen towel so that the extra oil is absorbed.

For the gravy-
In a wok, heat ghee, add cumin seeds & let it splutter. - 8
Add ginger garlic paste, green chillies & saute well.

Add onion & saute till translucent.

Add asafoetida, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder. Mix well.

Add tomato & cook till it get soft & start leaving oil from the edges.

In a bowl, add curd, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, sugar. Mix well.

Transfer this mixture into the wok & mix well.

Add lauki juice & about 1 cup of water.

Stir and simmer for 10 minutes on low flame.

Lastly, add the koftas.

Switch off the flame, cover & let them be in the curry for a few minutes so that koftas will absorb all the flavours from the curry.

Garnish with coriander leaves & some fresh cream (malai).
