Pongal Sweet Rice

Every year in 3 days of June (14,15 and 16th) we celebrate Raja Mahotsav with pomp and show in my state Odisha. We believe that in these three days mother earth becomes fertile and it's the time to get ready for the farmers for Kharif cultivation. Children, young and old enjoy playing cards, sitting on swings, and enjoy varieties of foods. One of the varieties of the recipe is Sweet Rice(Khichdi). I also made this recipe today. It's very delicious and flavored.

Soak rice and moong dal in water for 30 minutes. Then discard the water.

Add 3 cups of water, bring to boil. Add salt and jaggery powder. Mix well.

Now add soaked rice and dal and pressure cook for two whistles. Allow releasing pressure naturally. Serve hot and enjoy.
