My Nana has made this ever since I can remember. Very dense but moist, and buttercream frosting on top. I am not a chocolate cake fan, but this is the only chocolate cake I will eat.

  2. 2

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  3. 3

Mix sugar, mayo and cocoa together.

  4. 4

Mix baking soda and salt in warm water.

  5. 5

Add the water mixture to the vanilla (sugar) mixture.

  6. 6

Now add flour; mix all together and bake for 45 minutes. (I'd check it 5-10 minutes before since every oven is different. A toothpick should come out clean.)

  7. 7

Make buttercream frosting, that's the best kind of frosting for this cake. You don't need a whole lot of it since this cake is so rich and dense unless that's how you like it. Enjoy!
