Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken

The "Sweet & Sour Chicken" I had once from a bento box store was delicious, so I tried recreating it. My whole family has become huge fans of this.

For the karaage coating, don't just use katakuriko. Use a mixture of katakuriko and flour for a lighter breading. Recipe by Akko mama nyan

Steps

  1. 1

Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces, and put into a plastic bag together with the sake, salt, and pepper. Let sit for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

Make the sweet & sour sauce. Mix the ★ ingredients together in a bowl (it's a syrupy sauce).

  3. 3

Add the listed amounts of katakuriko and cake flour to a slightly large plastic bag and mix. Add the chicken from Step 1 to create a coating.

  4. 4

Place the bag down while spreading it out to keep the chicken pieces from lying on top of one another (this is to keep it from sticking together).

  5. 5

Fry the chicken in oil. Remove from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
