Ingredients

2-3 servings
  • 1 cupwashed rice
  • 3/4 cuproasted yellow moong dal
  • 3/4 cupfresh grated/1/3 cup dessicated coconut
  • 3/4 cupgrate
  • 3.5 cupwater
  • 1/2 tspcardamom powder
  • 1/2 tspcinnamon powder
  • 1bay leaf
  • 1 pinchturmeric powder
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 2-3 Tbspsugar /jaggery
  • 2 Tbspghee/clarified butter
  • as requiredCashews/chopped almonds for garnish

    Soak the rice and roasted moong dal for 10 minutes.

    Heat water in rice cooker. When the water starts boiling, add rice and dal, salt, turmeric and bay leaf.

    After nearly 12 minutes, 3/4 th Khichudi will be cooked.

    Add coconut, cardamom and cinnamon powder, sugar and ghee. Mix well. Switch off the Cook and keep covered for 5 minutes.

    Serve the delicious, aromatic Khichudi, garnish with chopped almonds and salad.
