Khichudi

Khichudi is a traditional meal made with rice, moong dal, grated coconut as main ingredients. It's basically sweet and offered as Chhapan Bhog to Lord Jagannath. At times, in different occasion, we used to prepare this simple yet so delicious recipe that can be made in less time and can be served with curd/salad or any other simple side dish.

Soak the rice and roasted moong dal for 10 minutes.

Heat water in rice cooker. When the water starts boiling, add rice and dal, salt, turmeric and bay leaf.

After nearly 12 minutes, 3/4 th Khichudi will be cooked.

Add coconut, cardamom and cinnamon powder, sugar and ghee. Mix well. Switch off the Cook and keep covered for 5 minutes.
Serve the delicious, aromatic Khichudi, garnish with chopped almonds and salad.
