During our first visit to Kerala I got to taste this amazing payasam given as prasad in temples.
This is a perfect winter sweet recipe because of the ingredients used in it.
It's a dairy free recipe.

During our first visit to Kerala I got to taste this amazing payasam given as prasad in temples.
This is a perfect winter sweet recipe because of the ingredients used in it.
It's a dairy free recipe.
Steps

Wash the rice and put it on flame along with 2 cups of water in a heavy bottom pan
- 2
When its half done, add powdered jaggery, ginger and cardamon powder. Stir well on low to medium flame.

When 3/4th done add coconut milk, mix well
- 4
Peel and cut bananas roughly, add it to the payasam. Mix well.

In a pan heat up ghee fry dried coconut slices and keep aside. In same ghee fry other dry fruits one by one.

Pour ghee over the payasam that is left in the pan after frying the nut along with fried nuts.

Mix well, taste if you need more sweet add extra jaggery powder and a pinch of salt.

Consistency of this payasam has to be thicker than normal kheer, switch off the when you get the desired consistency. Serve hot or warm.
