This week we are supposed to make something with the first letter of our name. So I plan to make something with “S” ….. Shaljam was the only vegetable I didn’t like it before my marriage. Then I got to know that its my husband’s favourite with boiled rice. My mom used to add sugar ingredient in shaljam which is the best tip to enhance the flavour. Now I not only makes it but also really liked it with mutton. Chicken Ke saath bhi enjoy karain. Don’t skip sugar . This is the secret ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kgShaljam
  • 1 tspGarlic
  • 2 tspginger
  • 250 gmschicken with bones
  • 1big onion 🧅
  • 3tomatoes
  • 1/2 cupyogurt
  • 1 tbspRed chilli powder
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tsphaldi
  • 1/2 tspgaram masala
  • 1/2 tspblack pepper powder
  • 4-5green chilli
  • 3 tbspsugar
  • Fresh coriander for garnishing

    Wash & peel shaljam. Take water in a pot and add whole shaljam with turmeric powder and cover and cook till water dries and Shaljam gets tender.

    Take sliced onion and fry in oil till golden. Add ginger garlic paste. Add tomatoes and yogurt. Mix well and make a smooth paste by using blender.

    Add chicken in this paste and bhonofy then cover and cook chicken on low flame till tender. Add salt, red chilli powder, black pepper, haldi, green chilli.

    Use potato masher to mash shaljam. Now add shaljam in chicken along with garam masala and fresh ginger.

    Keep on dum unti oil comes out. Adjust salt and chilli.

Food taste is similar and almost same traditional dishes. My Ancestors belong to Amratsar and Inlaws are from Sargodha. I am born & brought up in Karachi. I have learnt alot from my Mom . She’s also a super chef of our family & my inspiration too. After shadi have learnt few dishes from my saas too .Good food makes my family really happy & in return they appreciated me alot. It’s really good to see my husband and kids happy because they love the food that I cook . I genuinely enjoy the whole process of cooking & love to hosting and design menus too. For me cooking is highly creative hobby to take up . You can not only create your own dishes but blend your favourite cuisine , it’s totally your choice because it’s your kitchen and your family. I am blessed to be surrounded by beautiful family who always appreciated me and love my cooking skills ❤️❤️❤️
