This is a very tasty and healthy kheer (porridge) of chana dal, sago, jaggery and coconut milk. This kheer is offered to God in temples and then is distributed to devotees. This is a special festive dish in south indian homes.
Steps

First wash and soak chana dal and sago in water for minimum 1 hour
- 2
Now add ghee in the cooker, saute dal for 2min, add sago,cook for only one whistle by adding a cup of water (don't overcook)

Now heat 2 cups of water in a pan

Add jaggery

Boil for 5min till jaggery gets melt

Now add Cookped dal and sago

Cook for 7-8min on low flame till the kheer or Payasam consistency formed

Now mix coconut milk powder in 1/2 cup of water,stir well

Add this coconut milk in kheer

Turn off the flame

Add shallow fried cashews, raisins and almonds

Add cardamom powder

Payasam (kheer, porridge) is ready to serve
