Tuvar dal should be washed well and boiled in a pressure cooker with a little salt. Boil in such a way that the pulses do not melt.

Now heat ghee in a pan and fry it with dried chili, whole cumin seeds, and asafoetida for 10 seconds, add ginger paste, chopped tomato, and salt.

Once the tomatoes are soft, add turmeric powder, chili powder, roasted cumin powder, and sugar and mix well, and then add boiled dal.

When the dal boils, spread coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
