Loki aur chane ki daal

Soak chana dal for nearly 4 hours. Peel, cut, and chop bottle gourd into large medium pieces. Cut chop onions and tomatoes.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add onion and tomatoes, and saute till it turns golden in colour. Now add soaked chana dal and cook on low flame and roast till it turns pink and leaves oil in the sides.

Now add all the dry masala, bottle gourd, and 1 cup of water. Cook on medium-low flame covered stirring in between till the dal is all cooked and soft that it mashes well in between your two fingers.

Now in a tadka pan add oil and heat. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, green chilies, chopped garlic, and curry leaves. Pour it over the chana dal and lauki.

Serve with hot phulkas, roti, or steamed rice.
