Ingredients

5-6 servings
  • 1/2 cupCooking oil
  • 2Onion medium sliced
  • 2Bay leaves
  • 1 inchcinnamon stick
  • 3-4cloves
  • 750 gLamb/mutton mix meat with bones (slightly big pieces)
  • 1 TbspGinger garlic paste
  • 2 tspRed chilli powder or to taste
  • 1& 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1 tspCoriander powder)
  • 1/2chopped tin Tomato or 2 medium fresh Tomato chopped
  • 1 cupWater
  • 200 gpotato peeled and halves (chunky pieces)
  • 1-2Green chillies chopped (optional
  • 2-3 cupsboiled Water (if you need more runny gravy so you can add more water as well or need less runny gravy so you can add 1-2 cups of water)
  • 1/2 tspGaram masala powder
  • as neededFresh coriander for garnish

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pot heat oil and fry onions until translucent and add bay leaves,cloves,cinnamon stick and fry till slightly golden then add lamb / mutton mix meat,ginger & garlic paste, all spices and chopped tomatoes.

    Fry for 2-3 minutes add 1 cup water bring to boil then cover to cook on low flame until meat is tender and the water reduces for approximately 30-35 minutes.

  3. 3

    Keep mixing and once oil starts to separate, add potatoes and green chillies.
    When oil separates fully add 2-3 cups boiled water and let boil and cover until potatoes are cooked.
    Sprinkle some garam masala powder and fresh coriander.

  4. 4

    Served with roti,naan,pitta bread,flatbread,boiled rice or steamed rice.
