Add soaked chana dal in pressure cooker. Add one glass water, salt and turmeric powder.

Cover the pressure cooker with weight on and turn the heat on high.

Let it cook for one whistle then turn the heat on low.

Fry the onion for few seconds and add chopped green chillies.

Fry till onion turns light golden brown in color. Keep the heat on high.

Now, Add crushed garlic and fry till the onion turns golden brown in color. keep the heat on high.

Add chopped chopped tomato and fry till tomato turns soft.

Turn the heat on low and Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and saute for few seconds.

Turn the heat on high.

Add little amount of water, salt to taste and mix well.

Turn the heat on low. Cover the lid and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.

Saute for few seconds on high heat and add boiled chana dal with its water.

Add garam masala powder, coriander leaves and mix well for about a minute.

Add extra water for required consistency of Dal. Cover the lid and let it come to a boil on medium heat.

Dal is ready. Switch off the flame and prepare for tempering.

Heat the Ghee in a small pan. Add bay leaves, red chilli and cumin seeds, let them sizzle for few seonds.

Add tempering to dal and cover the lid quickly.

Mix well and dal is ready to serve.
