Ingredients

45 minutes
3 servings
  1. For cooking :
  2. 2 cup moth bean / matki / sprouts
  3. 1/4 tsphaldi
  4. 1/2 tspsalt
  5. 1 cupwater
  6. Masala paste ke liye :
  7. 2 tsp oil
  8. 2 inchginger (roughly chopped)
  9. 1onion (finely chopped)
  10. 2 clovesgarlic
  11. 1/4 cupdry coconut
  12. 1tomato (finely chopped)
  13. 1/4 cupwater
  14. Other ingredients :
  15. 3 tbspoil
  16. 1 tsprai
  17. 1 tspjeera
  18. leavesFew curry
  19. 1 tspKashmiri red chilli powder
  20. 1/4 tsphaldi
  21. 1 tspgaram masala
  22. 1 tspcoriander powder
  23. small piece jaggery
  24. 1/2 tspsalt
  25. 5 cuppani
  26. For serving :
  27. 2 cup farsan / mixture
  28. 1/2onion (finely chopped)
  29. 2 tbspcoriander leaves (finely chopped)
  30. 9pav
  31. 1lemon (four pieces)

Steps

45 minutes
  1. 1

    Firstly, soak moth bean overnight and take moth bean in pressure cooker, also add haldi, salt and water, take 3 whistles or till it becomes soft and keep it separate.

  2. 2

    Now heat oil, fry ginger, garlic and masala paste. Saute onion till it turns golden brown.

  3. 3

    Add coconut and roast for a minute. Saute tomatoes till it becomes soft.

  4. 4

    Cool the mixture completely, transfer to a blender. Add water nnd blend till smooth paste, keep it separate.

  5. 5

    In a large kadai heat oil, rai, jeera, curry leaves and heat until it crackle. Also add spices.

  6. 6

    Cook on low flame till the spices become fragrant. Now, add prepared masala paste and fry well.

  7. 7

    Cook till oil is removed from masala paste. Add cooked matki, small pieces of jaggery and salt, mix well.

  8. 8

    Add 5 cups of water and adjust the consistency. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until the misal is completely cooked.

  9. 9

    Once the misal is cooked, the oil starts to float indicating that the misal is ready.

  10. 10

    In a serving plate take a moth bean and pour some farsan over it. Add some chopped onions and coriander on top.

  11. 11

    Pour 1 serving spoon gravy on top of moth bean.

  12. 12

    Finally, serve misal with pav and lemon wedges and misal pav is ready.
