Ingredients

1 serving
  1. 10 gramsarhar daal
  2. 10 gramsmasoor daal
  3. 10 gramsmung daal (yellow)
  4. 10 gramsbasmati rice
  5. 1 tspghee
  6. 1/4 tspcumin seeds
  7. 1bay leaf
  8. 3-4cloves
  9. 1/4 inchcinnamon stick
  10. 1star accent
  11. As Per TasteSalt
  12. 1/2 tspgaram masala
  13. 1 tspginger and green chilli paste
  14. 1/4 tspred chilli powder
  15. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  16. 1 tbsppenuts
  17. 1 big bowl chopped vegetables of your choice
  18. As RequiredWater
  19. 1/4 tspmustard seeds
  20. 1dry red chilli
  21. Pinchasafoetida

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash the daal and rice properly and soak them for 2 hours.

  2. 2

    Now heat ghee in a wok. Add mustard seeds, and cumin seeds and let it crack. Now add asafoetida and all the whole spices followed by ginger and green chili paste.

  3. 3

    Now add 1 by 1 vegetable of your choice. I took a potato, tomato, green peas, carrot, capsicum, bottle gourd, and eggplant. Saute it properly.

  4. 4

    Remove water from the daal and rice and add it to a wok. Add peanuts.

  5. 5

    Add all remaining spice and water. Cover it and let it cook on low to medium flame.
    Between 3 to 4 times stir it and check the water level.

  6. 6

    Khichdi is ready to serve. Enjoy it with curd or curry. You can have it as it is.
