Ingredients

  1. 250 gmstomato
  2. 1 teaspoonfinely chopped ginger (adrak)
  3. 1green chili (hari mirch) - chopped
  4. ¼ teaspoon mustard seeds
  5. 1 pinchasafoetida (hing)
  6. ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  7. 1/4 teaspoonred chili powder
  8. 1/2 teaspoonCoriander Powder (dhania powder)
  9. 3/4 cupsev or as required
  10. 2 tablespoonchopped coriander (dhania ke patte) for garnish
  11. As per tastesalt
  12. 3/4 tspsugar

Steps

  1. 1

    First rinse and then chop the tomatoes, ginger and green chili

  2. 2

    Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and crackle them.

    Then add cumin seeds and saute till they change color. A few seconds.

    Then add chopped ginger, green chilies and asafoetida. Stir and saute for 10 to 12 seconds till the raw aroma of ginger goes awa

    Add the chopped tomatoes.

    Stir and then add spice powders - turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder.

    Stir well and saute for a minute. Then add salt and sugar.

    Stir and saute. You have to stir a few times so that the tomatoes get cooked evenly.

    Then add water. Stir very well.

    When done, add the sev and boil for a while.

    Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
