This is a simple upgrade to the basic packaged mac and cheese that I tried to turn into a less trivial casserole dish with additional meat to round it out.

This is a simple upgrade to the basic packaged mac and cheese that I tried to turn into a less trivial casserole dish with additional meat to round it out.

Preheat oven to 200°C. Cook macaroni according to package directions. The package says 7-8 minutes but I cut it down to 5 because baking it too.

In a pan, fry the beef until done, seasoning with salt and pepper, about 8 minutes.

In a baking dish, mix cheese powder from the mac and cheese package, milk, 6 tbsp of butter, and fried beef until well combined.

Top with bread crumbs, remaining 2 tbsp of butter, and grated cheese.

Bake for 30 minutes at 200°C or until bread crumbs are toasted and topped cheese melts.
