Steps
- 1
Get you plantain, wash and peel open.
My new technique in making really crunchy plantain chips, is to make sure the oil is on the fire getting hot...
Make sure, the temperature is not overly too hot..
Peel the onion and throw it in..
- 2
Get your slicer, and start slicing the Plantian straight into the oil.
I use to slice the plantain down initially, but discovered that the plantians fried out better when sliced directly into the oil 7
- 3
Once you get enough plantain slices into the oil, give it a good stir...sprinkle the salt over it whilst it's frying...
The thing here is to keep stiring the plantain from time to time...
The heat should be refused to avoid the chips browning out too quickly without some frying well.
The chip should fry well within 10-15mins, again this depends on the quality of chips and size of the frying pan.
- 4
Get a broad tray, spread plenty paper towels on it...and remove the chips once it's golden brown.
Now here's the real deal, while chip is spread out on the tray, to cool off, you turn the chips and keep blowing to avoid it sticking together.
If you want it peppered, now is the right time to pour the red chilli 🌶 powder over before it cools down completely.
And your crunchy plantain chips are 🍟 ready.
