25 - 30 minutes
4-5 servings
  1. 1 cupsplit Urad Dal
  2. 1/2 tspSalt
  3. Oil for frying
  4. Sugar Syrup
  5. 3.5 cupWater
  6. 2 cupSugar
  7. 2-3cardamom

Cooking Instructions

25 - 30 minutes
  1. 1

Soak Urad Dal for 6-7 hours, grind into a smooth paste by adding very less water. Add salt and whisk for 2-3 minutes.
We need almost Idli batter type consistency but fluffy.

  2. 2

Prepare sugar syrup by adding water + sugar, let sugar dissolve, add cardamom pods and boil for 6-7 minutes. We need a thin syrup….. one string consistency.

  3. 3

Now pinch small small or medium portions from batter and drop into medium hot oil, deep fry till golden brown.

  4. 4

Then immediately transfer to prepared sugar syrup and allow fritters to dunk for 5-6 hours and fritters will plump and turn soft. Discard cardamom pods.

  5. 5

Rosh Bora / Sweet Lentil Dumplings is ready to serve.

  6. 6

Enjoy this simple yet tasty dessert.
