Take a pressure cooker add water and milk then add soaked rice, moong dal and cook for 5-6 whistles. Switch off the flame.

Remove the lid and add ghee and salt mix it well.

To make the tempering, heat remaining ghee in a small pan add cumin seeds, cashew nuts, peppercorns, saute for 1 minute, now add ginger and curry leaves, saute few seconds, add hing, mix it, turn off the flame. Pour tempering top of the rice mixture and stir well. Savoury khara Pongal is ready.
