Braised Japanese Mackerel with Roe

It's been a long time since I found mackerel with roe. This fish is very rich and every one is plump and full of eggs. Braised or added to hot pot, it's delicious.

It's been a long time since I found mackerel with roe. This fish is very rich and every one is plump and full of eggs. Braised or added to hot pot, it's delicious.
Steps
- 1
Clean and gut the mackerel, rinse well, and drain. Marinate with 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon black bean sauce, 1 tablespoon fish sauce, 2 teaspoons sugar, black pepper, and chili peppers. Toss to coat the fish evenly and let it marinate for about 30 minutes. Braise the fish, turning occasionally, until it comes to a boil a few times. Add 1 cup warm water (about 240 ml), then simmer on low heat until the liquid is almost gone. Turn off the heat.
