Rinse the rice and lentils. Chop all the vegetables.

Heat a pressure cooker on the stove and add oil. Add the green chilies, garlic, and onions, and sauté until lightly browned. Add the tomato and cook for 1 minute. Add the cauliflower, bell pepper, and peas, and sauté. Add turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt, and mix well.

Add the rice and lentils, and sauté for 1 minute. Add water as needed, cover the pressure cooker, and cook for 2-3 whistles.

Your hot masala khichdi is ready. Serve with yogurt or buttermilk. It tastes great and is healthy too.
