Sometimes we have had heavy lunch & feel like skipping dinner. But skipping dinner will wake us up in the middle of the night with pangs of hunger . At such a time Upma is the best option .Upma is a very light dinner dish that will keep us full for a long time & not wake us at night also.
Upma can be had for breakfast also .

Masala water Mixture : Take water in a saucepan. Add ginger - chill paste, sugar & salt & boil till sugar melts. Switch off the gas. Add lemon juice, mix & cover & keep aside.

Take oil in a pan. Add urad dal, mustard seeds, curry leaves, saute and add asafoetida. Add onions & saute well.Add tomatoes & saute.

Now add sooji & saute till aroma comes & sooji becomes golden. Add masala water mixture & mix well.Cook till all the water has evaporated. Upma is ready.

Serving : Keep chopped coriander at the bottom of the serving bowl. Put upma in the bowl & press with the back of the spoon to level the upma. Invert the bowl on a plate. Serve immediately.
