In a medium bowl mix butter and sugar (and vanilla), until frothy

In a separate bowl mix flour and cornstarch.

Slowly add the four mixture to the butter mixture.Asking sure everything is evenly mixed before adding more

Roll on a lightly floured surface with a rolling pin until about 1/4in thick Cut into shapes using cookie cutters. (Optionally you can roll into small balls and flatten, either with a fork or your thumb. You can later add a jam or filling if desired)

Bake at 325° for 8-10 minutes or until light browned on the edges
