Steps
- 1
Soak the rice in hot water for 20 minutes.
- 2
Rinse the rice.
- 3
Blend the garlic and onion with 1 cup of water.
- 4
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- 5
Heat a saucepan with the oil and butter. Add the rice and toast it, stirring, until it starts to make popping sounds (about 8-10 minutes; the rice will dry out and make louder popping noises).
- 6
Add the blended garlic and onion mixture, then season with salt and chicken bouillon.
- 7
Add the 2 cups of boiling water.
- 8
When it starts to boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
- 9
Check after 10 minutes and stir the rice.
- 10
Turn off the heat after another 10 minutes; there should be no water left boiling.
- 11
Place a paper towel over the rice and cover the pot.
- 12
Serve.
