The sweetness of the onion and the juicy thick fried tofu make this dish irresistible. It's in the style of katsudon, so it's perfect for serving over rice. ★Thank you for making this recipe popular★
The story behind this recipe
I experimented with thick fried tofu, which is delicious boiled, grilled, or even as is, and it turned out great!

Ingredients

Serves 2 servings
  1. 2 piecesthick fried tofu
  2. 1/2onion
  3. 2eggs
  4. 3 1/3 tablespoonsconcentrated noodle soup base (3x concentrated)
  5. 1/2 cupwater
  6. 1/2 teaspoonsugar
  7. Chopped cilantro or green onions, to taste

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Cut the thick fried tofu into bite-sized pieces and pour boiling water over them to remove excess oil. Thinly slice or wedge the onion.

  2. 2

In a small pot, combine water, noodle soup base, and sugar, and bring to a simmer. Add the onion.

  3. 3

Once the onion is cooked through, add the thick fried tofu and simmer. If you prefer a saucier dish, don't reduce the liquid too much.

  4. 4

When the liquid has reduced, pour in the beaten eggs. Once the eggs are cooked to your desired firmness, turn off the heat. It's ready!

  5. 5

The photo shows the dish before topping, but feel free to sprinkle with cilantro or green onions.
