I used to be intimidated by making yeast dough desserts, thinking they were complicated and time-consuming, with no guarantee of success. However, using a bread machine made it easy to fulfill my son's request last time.

Cooking Instructions

200 minutes
  1. 1

Place the dough ingredients into the bread machine's container. Start the dough kneading and rising program. This process takes about 120 minutes. Note! A general guideline is to add the liquid, eggs, and salt at the bottom, followed by the flour and other dry ingredients, with the yeast on top!

  2. 2

While the dough is preparing, grind the walnuts and mix them with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon zest. Then, grease a deeper baking dish.

  3. 3

Turn the risen dough out onto a floured surface, roll it out to about 1.5 cm thick, and cut out circles using a floured cookie cutter.

  4. 4

Shape the dough pieces into slightly rounder forms and arrange them in the baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Drizzle with butter, sprinkle with walnuts, layering them, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  5. 5

After rising, bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) until golden brown - about 30-40 minutes.

  6. 6

    Serve with vanilla sauce.
